Dan called and left me a voicemail a couple weeks ago. He thanked me for a statement I had presented sometime throughout our recent learning years together. “Your life is a direct reflection of the questions you ask yourself.” As I listened to the msg, a large smile came over my face. Dan was asking himself new strong questions to get differentQuestion Mark, desired results!!!

Where did that saying come from? I have had so many outstanding teachers throughout my life – where did that one come from? I still do not recall. But I do recall working through this thought about 2 yrs ago.

I was at a seminar and watched Donald Trump speak. What questions does he ask himself when he wakes up? What questions drive his day? What questions am I asking myself when I wake up that drive my day? HMMMM

If I wanted to get similar results as Donald Trump or anyone else for that matter, is the power in the questions?

What am I asking myself when I wake up and throughout the day? After a few finer distinctions and application, I put this thought on my knowledge shelf, until Dan’s call.

Now it has resurfaced and is fresh in my mind. Yesterday I made a few finer distinctions and connected it to the flow of meetings and negotiations…(but thats for another post, along with how? the power of questions can BLOW out your CONTEXT to see what you may have never seen before….)

We just went through the arsenal of records and counted them out. 44 songz for B.ANONOYMOUZ with another 12 with CAM. So what does this mean?

YES over 50 tracks PLUS and THE SILENCE IZ BROKEN album!!! Comeon!!!!! Some emcees dont write that much in all their years of rap. B. wrote these all in 6 months!!! COMEON!!!

The Silver Fox – Random coincidental meeting

It was the Silver Fox that I met today. I had noticed him once or twice before – very elite looking – impeccable dress, commanding presence.

“Is this seat taken?” he asked. (at Starbucks)
“No” I said, as I was focused on my SalesMap. After I overheard some small talk with him and another individual, I stretched up from my computer and noticed his power tie.

“Wow, I blurted out – that is a great tie.” And we began conversing.
He engaged with a question. Then I did the same. There was a moment where he seemed turned off. Just another mortgage guy, he assumed. “Good luck with your new thing” As he turned back to his paper. Little did he know- thats not me.

So I reengaged with another question – his work. This turned into an exciting conversation, we both our shared backgrounds, built rapport, made connections, and learned a little about the each other. He is a visionary, working on the big picture from one of the top floors in Columbus, for one of the largest organizations in USA.

Very engaging conversation and I look forward to the next!!! What is the precessional effect? This is what I live for…what happens next in my movie of life, because of this random meeting?!

The best part of this random coincidental meeting is a trust in my gut. As I was getting ready at 5am, I had this reoccuring thought to skip the gym and go to Starbucks and work on SalesMap and B.YONEST website.

Lesson 1: Trust the gut and continue to act on inspired thought.

Lesson 2: Pay attention to response you get and act accordingly to get your desired response.

Who wants you on their team? Do you qualify? Do they qualify?

Who wants to be on your team? Who wants you on their team? What do you bring to the table? Do you qualify to be on the team?

These questions were posed to me back in 2003 by one of my most influential teachers, Robert K. They are ingrained in my subconscious.

The interesting part about these questions is, which perspective are reading them from? Are you the business owner or the employee? The answers means different things to differing paradigms.

Even before this Real Estate Course with Robert, I had begun to develop a curriculum (I’m an educator, what can I say) of all of the skills that I want to learn and add to my very powerFULL toolbelt. These questions kicked my curriculum into overdrive.

Me, being the business owner – who wants to be on my team? and why? Is my idea/project that inspiring that others want to be part of it? Well, if you cant sell or at least communicate your idea then no one even knows about it. You better have enough confidence in your ability to engage someone and then articulate your idea, with energy. Highest energy wins and is contagious. “People will come from miles around, to watch you burn with Enthusiasm” – Dolf DeRoos – (close to the topic).

The more people that hear about your idea/project the more energy it contains. (this is topic for another entry)

Precession – What is it?

How many of you have heard of or know what the word precession means?

How many have not heard of the word precession before?

Well I had not heard of it until about 5 years ago. (it is a physics and astronomy term and a bit complex) but a very influential teacher explained it to me simply as this….Ripple Effect

Precession is the ripple effect.

Throw a rock in the water and it is the ripple effect. What happens from an event, thought, action, or decision?

It becomes a string of events (ripple) – which you will later connect back to the source (rock).

  • Julie introducing me to Chris – and him suggesting to improve my sales skills by working in the mortgage industry – this was the furthest think from my mind.
  • A random conversation I had with Anthony the day I failed my interview, when he curiously asked why I was in Columbus 1 space. Without that coincidental meeting I would not be here right now.
  • The lunch I had with CJ our last day of training, in which we decided to go back to office and make 5 calls even though everyone else left.
  • Conversation with Trevion last Thursday, after hours, here at office – reinforcement of my controllable behaviors and how they effect not only our revenue, but more importantly our clients lives.
  • Maybe the conversation I had with Daniel and Dalton Friday about there selling styles and the results they get.
  • What growth occurs for each of us from going through this story telling process?

Each one of these events in my life is rock in water – what is the precessional effect of these events taking place? Each one being there own ripple, while being connected to next?!

When thinking about this story it kept reoccurring to me the responsibility we have to our clients. What is the ripple effect in their lives? How are their lives changed by us being able to put money in their pocket, fix their credit, and helping them discover all the benefits and valuable reasons to refinance?

Keep this mind today when you are the phone with your clients. Who’s agenda are you speaking to? Whose goals are at the forefront of your mind – what is the ripple effect from the value add/ service we are providing?

How does your client’s life change from this process? When you ask them open-ended questions, they paint the picture through their explanation of goals. Help your client to see the connection to the actual benefits behind their explanations.

I am driven by the wonder of the simple decisions we make and what the precessional effect is.

A little story:
Its Friday night, I run out my townhouse, down the steps and cross the bridge. As I began to really jog I am stopped by an enormous crowd of middle aged and perfect candidates for reverse mortgages.. The Arena is right next to house, I see lines, but never a line like this, wrapping the Arena. My curiosity asks a couple next to me, what are you here for, Barry Manilo, she explains. After a nice, quick, energetic chat with the folks I circle around the crowd and begin the jog to gym again. I had to circle them though, the line was huge.
While I am working out, it dawns on me that most of those individuals standing in line and going to the Barry Manilo concert are my prospects for a refinance or reverse mortgage.

I decided to act on inspired thought.Inspired Thought

I run home and put together a draft copy of a sales letter. My Window of Opportunity was small about 2 hours. I had to write the copy, get back to office, print out copies and then go flyer cars before they prospects were out of the concert.Even though multiple things tried to sidetrack me during this small window of opportunity, I did it. I placed 42 flyers on cars.
Result?
No calls the next day or even a week later. I decided to post the letter on my site, but more as a discussion builder for others to help me perfect the letter. What will really make people take action, call and potentially change their life?
Well it turns out the search engines picked it up – and when you type in bush’s stimulation plan in google – you see the below flyer- number 2 result in google. AMAZING.

2 Americans meet in China at Senator’s Lunch

How’s it going? What do you have in the works?

Everything is great and in the works! My days are spent in an incredible sales environment. I am involved in building on an already outstanding sales team. Teaching and learning the lessons that comes with sales mastery. All while learning the lending industry. We at (RFC) are broker/bankers. Have our own processing, underwriting and funding. Govt, FHA’s loans, reverse mortgages, conventional. You and I may be able to find a connection within the real estate projects, you are involved in.

What have you been up to? What do you have in the works? I think your life sounds exciting! Real Estate is a love of mine. Any stories you want to share, would be great.

The thrill of selling a company for a huge profit! That sounds like a story I want to hear, too!

Bruce’s next 5 year project, is the biggest investment opportunity and I have been involved in. He is almost ready to release the PPM. Its big, the first investors in this deal, WIN BIG! What is the most exciting thing you have your hands in now or have in the past? Investments within different industries intrigue me, I think its because they all seem to connect in mysterious ways.

Why should I do business with your company?
Why should I do business with you?

Turns out there is 6 main variables: 3 lenders calling the borrower. 3 salespeople.

These are the 2 questions going through your prospect/potential client’s mind. Conscious or unconscious these are the 2 questions they are asking themselves.

Why should they do business with your company?
Why should they do business with you?

You better sprinkle some reasons for both into your sales call.
Sprinkle throughout the courting process from prospect to client – don’t throw up on them.

What differentiates you from the other salespeople?
Do you even know why they should do business with your company?

Its canned – be canned – so you don’t have to think about what to say or how to say it. So you can actually pay attention to the goals and needs of your clients. And be yourself! Have a conversation. Ask a lot of questions. Open-ended – let them paint pictures of exactly what they want and why. Link their pictures, in their words, into benefits. This begins to establish value.

How do you differentiate yourself from the other sales professionals?

Listen for any extras – kids, hobbies, interests etc
Connect with your client by building rapport. Be yourself! Unless you suck and then be somebody else.

In time, through rapport and frequency of contact, tension goes down and trusts increases. Court your prospect across the “transfer of trust” bridge to become your client. Be the professional and help your client make a well-educated decision. Show them what to do next to increase their financial position.

When you establish value, price doesn’t matter.
Never quote price before establishing value.

How do you get your client to exchange a premium and go out of their way to do business with you? And then tell their friends about the experience.

THE GIFT – a bridge

I want to share a story with you…about an incredible gift, I received today…
It was an evening, consisting of 3 hours of teaching, learning, processing, and making connections. Really expanding the context while deeping and widening the content to fill the glass. side:(A glass can only gets so big before it comes a jug, or a barrel, then what, imagination – How big is the context? The bigger the context; the wider the possibility.)

Back to story…We discussed many topics including presenting, acknowledging, turning on lightbulbs, bridging the neural connection for others.

My teacher today – bridged a gap of understanding. He asked a question? Open ended – let me paint picture. Then connected a very real full body story experience to my current playground of income generation. It looked flawless, textbook, just like we discussed. A great student and teacher. – oh yeah and LEADer too. All with a gassed up mind frame. NICE WORK!

Now my question?

Based on acknowledgment conversation and engaging audience with 2 questions. Did it work?
