I highly recommend signing up for the daily email newsletter. I signed up about 2 weeks ago. It reminds me of what I first felt like when reading the Wall St Journal. Many things seems to be over my head. As I read I make new connections among the different markets and the ways to invest within them.

ART EXCERCISES

I had the privilege of sitting down with Virginia Freyermuth who you may have seen showcased HERE on this BLOG, for her PORTRAITS.

Within the past few months I have begun MAKING ART. I was inspired to do this because of Virginia’s work and Julie’s work and my understanding about the right brain and creativity.

It has been so FUN and continues to get better.

Finger Paint, Water Color, Colored Pencil, Pen, Charcoal, Fine tip marker. This has been my short self taught intro to ART, in order.

Virginia gave me a few exercises to practice with and a professional intro into ART.

In order of discussion:

1. Observation – anything you can see, you can draw, with time, energy and practice.
2. A line – where two edges meet.
3. Contour drawing – look for edges, no lift of pencil – let right brain take over and quiet the left -(internal critic)
4. Start with a 2 inch by 2 inch square of paper and just let your mind run with your fingers and let go. Not trying to draw something – Your imagination and intuition will create.
5. Use a pen or brush as a measuring tool – hold arm straight out.
6. Perspective Drawing – Horizontal lines always same as page edges. Above or below horizon line, dictates angle.

PRACTICE, just sit down and do it! I have been getting lost. Time goes away. It is FUN!

Jay-Z Hits the Jackpot with LiveNation and B.YONEST

Rapper and entrepreneur set to sign $125 million deal with Live Nation

According to the New York Times, the rap behemoth— who is set to close a handsome $150 million deal from Live Nation—might be right.

Live Nation, a major concert promotion company based in Beverly Hills, California gave pop icon Madonna a $120 million deal last year, and uber-rock band U2 a 12-year partnership for an undisclosed amount.

According to the Times, Jay-Z (real name Shawn Carter) will complete a package deal that includes a start-up label, as well as a music publishing, talent consulting and management company.

Live Nation is expected to contribute $5 million a year in overhead for five years, with another $25 million available to finance Jay-Z’s acquisitions or investments. The venture, to be called Roc Nation, will split profits with Live Nation.

The rapper most recently joined forces with Steve Stoute to form Translation Advertising in New York, an umbrella of Translation Consultation and Brand Imaging, which focuses on multicultural advertising.

For four years, Jay-Z served as the president of Def Jam. He stepped down from his post last year, but owes the label one more album. Upon his leaving, Jay-Z said simply, “It’s time for me to take on new challenges.”

RUMOR is that B.YONEST is the first artist to partner with RocNation Label.
